Declutter 27 Twitter Accounts–even George Takei’s (#declutter2015 Challenge)

#Declutter2015 Challenge: Day 8, Declutter 27 Twitter accounts

Declutter 27 Twitter accounts: that was my objective for the day because, frankly, I wasn’t really up to much more. I’ve been suffering from a cold or a flu for the past few days, and today being the first where I had to wake up to an alarm clock, I just couldn’t see myself doing a bunch of sorting at o’dark early in the AM. So, I hurried through much of my morning routine, and had 10 minutes to spare before having to leave the house to catch my bus.

Declutter 27 Twitter accountsSo, at 4:50 am (you don’t want to know when I woke up), I sat at my computer, plugged “unfollow on Twitter” into a search engine and picked the first free app available: unfollowers.com. The cool thing about it is that you can sort through your followers–or non-followers as it were–and then you can unfollow declutter them based on the last time they tweeted or how long their account has been open or whatever.

Declutter 27 Twitter Accounts is the New Unfollow!

Day 9 #Declutter2015 Challenge: Declutter 27 Twitter accountsI think I chose Tweet frequency first. Anyone who hasn’t tweeted in 12 months was “unfollowed”. Easy. Another criterion: people who weren’t following me back. I parsed through this list a little more closely–because, even though Stephen King isn’t following me back, he also isn’t following back 99.99% of his six-figure follower base, and I’m curious about what his next tweet will hold. But George Takei? I follow him on Facebook anyway… Unfollow! (Sorry, if you’re reading this, George. It’s not you, it’s the new me–clutter-free!)

So, I decluttered my Twitter list and evened out my following-to-follower ratio a little more closely in less than 10 minutes. Done! Now, off to work!
