My Micro Fiction Submission for this week: This is It!
Here she was. Moving slowly, gracefully, down the aisle. Her train dragged softly behind her rhythmic steps. Flower girls tossed petals out before them. And Luke. Her dear, unbelievably handsome Luke, stood at the altar, trembling ever so slightly. Everything was just perfect!
Luke took her hands in his and gazed searchingly into her eyes. Margaret bit into the soft flesh of her lip, just to remind herself that this was happening.
Kenneth, her ex, her best friend, her boss and today, the officiant for this ceremony, began to speak, but Margaret wasn’t listening.
“Speak now, or forever hold your peace.” Kenneth looked out at the attendees and then his eyes settled on Luke. He continued to wait.
Alright, get on with it! Margaret looked up from her hands that were beginning to perspire.
All the voice Luke could muster didn’t break a whisper: “Margaret? We need to talk…”
